The EUR/USD opened the Asian session at 1.4085 after drifting down from the 1.4116 high late in the US session when Wall Street slumped into the close. Euro traded down to 1.4061 during the Asian morning session when the USD started moving broadly higher. Cable started quietly in Asia this morning, opening at 1.5990 following the overnight break below the 1.5977/82 support region. Cable has been confined to a narrow 1.5976/00 range in Asian trading today before starting a bullish trend up to 1.6032. USD/JPY did dip down from an early high of 81.79 to 81.54 but looked better bid and subsequently bounced. JPY crosses basically followed USD/JPY moves though slightly better offered after weakness overnight.
09:30 GMT time we expect GBP Current account announcement, which will show us an import and export balance. At 15:00 GMT all eyes on USD for CB Consumer Confidence forecasted to be 64.9.
As for Equities in US, we see Dow at 12,198 being negative by 23 points, Nasdaq down to 2,731 losing -12 points and S&P 500 down by 0.27% to the level of 1,310. In Europe FTSE 100 is priced positively at 5.904, rising up by 0.34%. In Asia, Nikkei went up 20 points to the level of 9.499 by +0.22%, Hang Seng is at 23,091 with 0.10% increase and Shanghai trading slightly positive at current 3.125 level.
