The EUR/USD opened the Asian session at 1.3625 after easing late in the US session when US yields pushed higher following a weak 3-year Treasury auction. The EUR/USD fell to 1.3613 in early Asian when a few weak longs pared back. USD/JPY and the JPY complex like yesterday did not do much in Asia again today USD/JPY traded between 82.25-42. Sterling opened at 1.6069 and was traded within range of 1.6050/74. US yields again pulled down and pushed USD/CHF to new highs for the month breakout above 0.9600. EUR/CHF broke out beyond the Jan highs and various technical hurdles by 1.3120 as the franc was sold as a funding currency.
Today we expect Fed Chairman Bernanke Testifies at 15:00 GMT.
The Equities in US gained, showing the Dow on +72 points , at 12,233 by 0.59%, Nasdaq 2,797 by 0.47% also S&P 500 closing to 1,325 by 0.42%. We saw FTSE 100 increased by 40 points at 6,091 with 0.67%. In Asia, Nikkei dropped by 18 points to 10,618 by -0.17%, Hang Seng fell by -233 points to 23.251 by -0.99% and Shanghai by 19 points to 2,911 by 0.63%.
